Gold and silver are noble metals. These metals are malleable and ductile and also do not get affected by air, water, and acid or alkaline for a long time. Due to this luster properties (shine) persists for a longer times. Therefore these metals are used to make ornaments.

In this answer, two properties of substances have been identified, malleability& ductility. Let us talk about these a little bit more.
Malleability: Malleability is a substance’s ability to deform under pressure (compressive stress). If malleable, a material may be flattened into thin sheets by hammering or rolling.
Ductility: Ductility is a solid material’s ability to deform under tensile stress; this is often characterized by the material’s ability to be stretched into a wire.
